Meet Miss Tania

Having spent her entire adult life as a music educator, Tania is deeply passionate about music. Raised in a family that enjoyed all forms of music, Tania began formal piano lessons at the age of 6. Throughout her formative years, she studied with some of Australia’s most respected educators and performers, including Dr. Margaret Brandman, Albert Landa, and Alison Ascoli.

Tania launched her teaching career in 1992 at the Fairfield School of Music, which she co-owned and operated for over a decade. In 2000, she established her private teaching practice, The Piano Academy, and later opened her early childhood Kindermusik studio, Busy Bees Music, in 2007.

Busy Bees Music was born from Tania’s personal experience, following the premature birth of her first daughter at 28 weeks. The studio is dedicated to guiding families to appreciate the profound impact of music in strengthening relationships, fostering community, and making learning both playful and enjoyable.

Tania's performance experience includes AMEB examinations and HSC accompanying, as well as work as a church, liturgical, and wedding organist. She also has experience accompanying for The Opera and Oratoria Company of Australia (TOOTCA) in its early years, under the direction of the esteemed entertainer William Amer.

Tania has completed tertiary studies in piano pedagogy, studio teaching, performance, musical theory, child development, early childhood music, and has been an accredited Kindermusik educator since 2007. Additionally, she has pursued further studies in the Montessori Method, Floortime, sensory integration, neurodevelopmental movement patterns, and retained primitive reflexes. Tania is a certified Infant Massage Instructor and has completed training with The Academy of Neurologic Music Therapy. With a developing interest in how music can be used as therapy for neurologic conditions, Tania is also an affiliate member of The Academy of Neurologic Music Therapy.

Throughout her career, Tania has taught music in child care centers, primary and secondary schools, and has worked with Families NSW, providing music classes to parents and children from diverse linguistic backgrounds. Until 2017, she was a private piano teacher at Thomas Hassall Anglican College. Tania’s inclusive teaching practice embraces children with diverse learning and sensory profiles, including those with sensory processing differences and those who identify as neurodivergent. As a parent of two school-aged children, she understands how music can be a powerful catalyst for development in all learning areas. Her whole-brain teaching approach nurtures each child's unique strengths, making lessons energetic, engaging, and joyful. Many of her private piano students have achieved excellent results in AMEB examinations and have gone on to pursue various careers in music. Some of her former piano students now have children of their own, many of whom attend Busy Bees classes. It’s wonderful to see this musical journey come full circle.

Busy Bees Music has been awarded Top Program status from Kindermusik International for the 2024 teaching year. This marks the 13th consecutive year that Busy Bees Music has achieved this prestigious recognition.
